Permanent Electromagnets have a permanent magnetic field, but when supplied with power, the magnetic field is neutralized.
This type of electromagnets is used when the magnetic field is required to work (magnetic field on) most of the time, and neutralized once in a while (for example a door lock). If the magnetic field should be off for 50% of the time or more, we would recommend the use of a regular electromagnet. Electric current is used to neutralize the magnetic field and holding force created by powerful neodymium magnets.
