Magnets for automotive
In every automobile and in future designs, the number of electric DC motors and solenoids is well into the double figures. They are found, for example in:
- Electric windows – motor.
- Windshield wipers – motor.
- Door locking systems – solenoid.
One of the most important components in the electric motors is the magnet. The magnet is usually the static part of the motor and supplies the rejection power to create circular or linear movement.
Most engines/motors traditionally use Ferrite type magnets, but there is a growing awareness to the advantages of Neodymium Iron Boron magnets – especially in high performance engines or where down-sizing is a crucial factor. Considering all new technologies are aimed at decreasing overall size of product, it is likely these motors will soon take over the entire market.
Free and low dysprosium NdFeB magnets are used more and more in the automotives industry, and became a preferred choice for designing new magnetic application for the automotive industry.
